Welcome to ChesSphere.com
The hard hats are coming off. ChesSphere.com has definitely moved out of the construction phase to become
a site that is worthwhile in it's own right. Of course we're still working to bring you more, but we expect this will
always be the normal state of affairs. It seems we've passed a landmark, however, with the roll out of perhaps
our most important core project. The "Learn to Play Chess" mini-course is now available for everyone. This
means we now offer newcomers a complete guide on how to play chess that requires no prior knowledge of
the game.
Things continue to happen in other areas as well. Though there is still a great deal of work to do, our Chess
Shoppe is open for business offering the right core chess products you need from top suppliers. Perhaps
more importantly however, we are have dedicated ourselves to offering the guidance you need to find the right
products for you while avoiding purchases that will soon leave you disappointed. To this end we have guides
available for the two product categories that are most important to chess players: chess books, and of course
chess set. Our "Ten Essential Books for the Novice Player" shows you how your decision about what to read
next is about more than finding a good chess book, it is about finding the right kind of chess book for the stage
you are at right now in your development as a player and using the books you read to their fullest potential. We
currently have two offerings in our "So You Wanna Buy a Chess Set" series; "The Characteristics of a Chess
Set" goes into what makes one chess set different from another, why some may be much more expensive
than others, and most importantly what you need to consider in order to find the set that is right for your needs
without paying too much. Meanwhile "Chess Set Recommendations" allows you to match your needs with one
or more of the most common situations people may be in when looking for a chess set. You can then find
specific recommendations for sets suited to those needs from our Chess Shoppe to fit a variety of budgets.
Who this site is for:
If you are new to Chess then ChesSphere is a resource to help you learn to play the game and play it the right
way. If you already know how to play chess it's a great place to learn to play it better. If you haven't played in a
while it's the perfect place to come for a refresher. And while this site wasn't conceived with the idea of, say
helping you make the leap from class tournament player into the titled ranks, more experienced players may
find a few fresh perspectives and have a bit of fun as well. This site is for everyone whether you have joined an
elementary school Chess club or are taking up the game in your retirement. No matter who you are however
the idea behind everything at ChesSphere is to help you get more enjoyment out of the game.
